Antonio and Bassanio have a very strange relationship. Bassanio seems like more of a leader and a likeable guy because Antonio seems to always give him money even if he owes him still. Antonio does everything Bassanio says.("thou know'st that all my fortunes are at sea/Neither have I money nor a commodoty/To raise a present sum, Therefor go forth/Try what my credit in Venice can do.")(p.19/185-193) He is always willing to lend him money. In my opinion he look to Bassanio as a son or maybe even a lover. He is willing to give it all just for Bassanio. Antonio even goes out of him way to loan money and even help Bassanio out by talking to people who can give him money. Antonio is also much older resembling a more of a father figure in Bassanios eyes. Many kids end up asking their fathers for money later in life just like Antonio and Bassanio
