Antonio and Bassanio have a very strange relationship. Bassanio seems like more of a leader and a likeable guy because Antonio seems to always give him money even if he owes him still. Antonio does everything Bassanio says.("thou know'st that all my fortunes are at sea/Neither have I money nor a commodoty/To raise a present sum, Therefor go forth/Try what my credit in Venice can do.")(p.19/185-193) He is always willing to lend him money. In my opinion he look to Bassanio as a son or maybe even a lover. He is willing to give it all just for Bassanio. Antonio even goes out of him way to loan money and even help Bassanio out by talking to people who can give him money. Antonio is also much older resembling a more of a father figure in Bassanios eyes. Many kids end up asking their fathers for money later in life just like Antonio and Bassanio

Throughout the chapters Pip and Estella spend much time together. Pip loves Estella and is her suitor, once Pip finds out that another man Drummell is also courting her he is very upset. The whole reason Pip is so obsessed with Estella is because he thinks that Miss Havasham was his benefactor, and that it is meant to be. But when he realizes that she is not he has finally sort of given up on Estella in my opinion. This will greatly change Pip and maybe even Estella. What is Pips motivation to be a gentleman now? will he go appologize to Joe? Pip will realize that he spent most of his life to win over a girl that he will never get. And Estella may realize that she cannot keep doing what she does. On page 301 Pip talks about Estella saying "With a cold careless smile that always chilled me." This shows how Pips feelings are starting to change for Estella. He doesnt love her anymore and i feel like Pip will be a more interesting character now because he is able to do what he wants now.

Choice 1.

As Pip continues to go to Miss Havisham's house he wants to become a gentleman even more. Before Pip ever went to her house he was fine with his standing as a common folk. He had no ambitions of ever becoming educated or a gentleman. Once Stella starts making fun of his for being common that is when he is motivated to become a gentleman and win her heart. Estella says "Why, he is a common labouring-boy!" and at this point Pip does admit that she is pretty.
so, as he continues to go to Havisham's he continues to see Estella and he thinks that Estella will like him more the more educated he becomes. And as the book goes on Pips expectations to become a gentleman increases as his opportunity's become more grand.

Great Expectaions # 1

“It were a bit lonesome then,” said Joe, “living here alone, and I got acquainted with your sister. Now, Pip;” Joe looked firmly at me, as if he knew I was not going to agree with him; “your sister is a fine figure of a woman.”

This quote explains the reason of why a nice man like Joe married Ms. Joe who is quite mean. Joe was beaten as a child much like how Pip is currently beaten by Ms. Joe. Joe was lonely living in his forge all by himself and he decided to marry Ms. Joe. In this quote Joe and Pip are discussing Ms. Joe although Joe knows that Pip dislikes Ms. Joe Pip is wondering how can a nice man like him marry her. Joe is trying to explain to Pip that he really doesn't like her but more of he needs to be married to her. She provides Joe good company and she also prepares him meals and in the 19th century it was very uncommon for a man to prepare meals. In the quote Joe even says he was lonesome living alone which we can infer that he is trying to tell Pip that he doesn't really love Ms. Joe. It also says he looked at Pip firmly and told him that shes a fine figure of a women. When i read this I imagine Joe being sarcastic in a way. By him looking so stern i can imagine him kind of telling Pip that Ms. Joe is a good lady but he doesn't necessarily agree with her beating him. After this Pip says that him and Joe had an understanding of each other. And that explains what Joe was trying to tell Pip.
